Ananas Comosus

The Golden Pineapple (ananas comosus) is the fruit obtained from the plant that receives the same name. Its shape is oval and thick, it is a tropical fruit native to America. Today, Colombia has vast plantations of this fruit with the advantage of being cultivated in different regions, making it available throughout the year.

Properties and Benefits

  • Its vitamin C content contributes to the immune system, and also reduces the impact of oxidative stress.

  • It is a food rich in vitamin C, a nutrient that helps stimulate the production of collagen in the body.

  • It is a food rich in water and fiber, which contributes to the digestion processes and the elimination of retained liquids, thanks to its diuretic effect.

  • Fresh pineapple consumed in its natural state without added sweeteners may be beneficial for people with diabetes, since it does not alter sugar levels. However, a doctor should be consulted.

  • It is recommended because thanks to its high water content it is a key food to complement daily hydration.

  • Pineapple can be eaten in juices, smoothies, ice cream, mousse, desserts, and cocktails.
